Winona County Fair

Last weekend we headed back down to Ryan's to go to the Winona County Fair. What a fun time! It was a really nice fair, entertaining, cheap (as far as fair's go), and the kids had a blast.

When we got there we visited all the animal barns, and in true small town county fair fashion, watched a bit of the cow and pig auction. We were tempted to bid on a cow for Katie but resisted.

Isaac participated in the tractor pedal pull. He was SO excited and really wanted a trophy but I think he got nervous once it started and if you lose momentum, you can't really pedal anymore. He was dissapointed at first but well consoled with his prize of a Dr. Pepper (only the 2nd time in his life he's gotten to have caffiene pop so a BIG treat) and a free ice cream bar.

Here he is warming up for the big event...
And pulling his tractor...The boys tried out a few carnival games. We were there as it was opening and not busy so the workers were very generous with them. Letting them go right up to the targets, helping them get the highest scores, ect. Elijah won a big blow up Dora that he still loves and plays with all the time.
After watching the parade, which consisted mostly of antique tractors and llamas,
we enjoyed some fair food. Uncle Ryan and Grandpa went for the ribs, Elijah chowed down on a corn dog, and Isaac stuck with the safe choice-pizza.

Then it was on to the rides! Russ bribed Katie with a $10 phone card into going on the Zipper with him. I was sure she was going to throw up all over him but she kept her lunch in, thank goodness!

Isaac went on the Fun Slide and then wanted to try a bigger ride. He ended up choosing the spinning dragons (dinosaurs??) and LOVED it! Elijah was feeling left out so he got to go too. Despite hiding in Russ most of the ride, he immediately wanted to go again!By that time, we had been there for several hours and were all getting tired so decided, after a bucket of chocolate chip cookies, to call it a day. We'll be back next year!
